On behalf of the students, staff and Board of Education, I would like to welcome everyone to our website. We hope you find it informative and that while browsing you learn more about us and how we serve our KIDS and our community.
If you’re a student, we think you’ll enjoy the section dedicated just for you. It’s loaded with interesting sites, activities and educational tools.
If you’re a parent, there are helpful details about the school calendar, bus schedules, meals, immunization requirements, how to enroll children and much more. Be sure to check out the web pages of individual schools to determine their program offerings.
If you are a community member, there’s a wealth of information about how FCS is serving our KIDS and our community. A lot of great things are going on and we’re proud of the terrific accomplishments of our students and staff. We want our community to know that we truly appreciate the support we receive and that we’re committed to making our partnership grow even stronger.
If you’re an employee, our site has important information regarding all aspects of your employment with FCS and thanks for demonstrating every day your commitment to achieving results for the KIDS of Floyd County.
FCS has been a “district on the move” in the last few years according to federal and state tests. For example, our Commonwealth Accountability Testing System (CATS) District index is now 89. That’s a 14 point increase in 3 years. Teamwork has been the key to this success and I’m positive that through a strong and committed partnership with our community, we will reach our goal of ensuring that EVERY CHILD is equipped with the skills they need for a successful future.

We hope everyone had a great summer and is ready for an exciting 2011-2012 school year. We encourage everyone to join us in embracing the new state accountability model and national standards as they are timely in our pursuit of establishing Floyd County as a District of Excellence for our KIDS! To learn more about these new initiatives you can view the video series on the home page and/or watch for informational meetings at your local school and across the district.
